About
Memorials at the Eaglehawk Remembrance Park consist of lawn and monumental graves, native gardens, lakeside memorials, niche walls, granite pods, rose gardens, weeping roses and a memorial lawn. With many diverse options, here families find a unique way to celebrate the amazing life and legacy of those who have passed, establishing a place to visit now and for future generations.

At approximately 12.14 hectares (30 acres), the Eaglehawk Remembrance Park is the third largest RPCV site in the Bendigo region.
Land for the Eaglehawk cemetery was gazetted in 1879, when the area was used for monumental burials. A Heritage Overlay applies to the historical monumental area, which can be accessed through the original entrance off Grenfell Avenue. The old Sexton’s residence at the park was formerly located near these gates. The cottage was built in the 1870’s and was the residence for six Sextons of the cemetery, before it was demolished in the 1970’s.
A few years ago, the names of the lawn sections at each Remembrance Park were re-named to honour local people of the region that have made a significant contribution to the area.

Gianna Memorial Garden and Wall
The Gianna Memorial Garden and Wall is located at Eaglehawk Remembrance Park.
The Gianna Memorial Garden was established by Remembrance Parks Central Victoria to honour and remember babies and infants who have passed away and to provide parents and other family members with a peaceful and tranquil place to reflect on their loved ones and place a memorial plaque of remembrance.

The Garden and Wall was named in honour of the Gianna Centre Bendigo which was founded in 2004. Since this time, the Gianna Centre has been a caring family support, education and referral centre for men, women, and young people of Bendigo and surrounding areas. During this time, the Centre provided a welcoming and friendly environment to help people through challenging times, whether it was with pregnancy, parenting, relationships, fertility, or loss and grief and related issues.
In 2015, RPCV unveiled the Gianna Memorial Garden and Wall to enable parents and families to place memorial plaques to help them manage their feelings of loss and grief.
Sadly, the Gianna Centre closed in June 2023. However, the legacy of the Centre lives on. In 2023, the Gianna Centre Board approved the transfer of a donation of $2,000 from a local business to RPCV for the purpose of assisting families to fund memorial plaques for placement on the wall.
RPCV will continue to utilize these funds to assist families in memorializing their loved ones.
