Celebrating Bendigo’s Heritage

Over 60 guests from the Greater Bendigo Community joined with the RPCV Trust and staff to celebrate the official opening of the heritage-restored Bendigo Chapel on 21 November 2024. The Hon. Maree Edwards MP, Member for Bendigo West, cut the ribbon to the front entrance of the Chapel following a series of guest speakers who outlined the fascinating history of the Chapel, the Bendigo Cemetery and the intricacies of the heritage restoration program. This was followed by canapes and drinks as guests walked through the Chapel to admire its features and learn more about the restoration program.

Guests included local Councilors-Elect, Members of the Clergy and faith-based community groups, Trust Members, both past and present, and prominent local Funeral Directors.

RPCV appreciates the financial support for this important project over several years from the Victorian State Government, Living Heritage Community Grants program. Heritage buildings can help define a community’s identity and sense of place. They can also help people connect with their local area and the community’s history.

RPCV is proud to re-open the heritage-restored Bendigo Chapel and return it to the community for future use.
